School Pride: Memorable collegiate paint schemes in NASCAR
Jamie McMurray adds another to the long line of NASCAR drivers who have featured colleges and universities on their rides. McMurray's Chevrolet at Kansas Speedway will feature Kansas State University's Powercat logo. The scheme came together because of a donation by Textron Aviation, the parent company of the No. 1 car's primary sponsor, Cessna.
Ryan Blaney: Virginia Tech University
Ryan Blaney, driver of the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford, drove this Virginia Tech University-themed paint scheme in the night race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The rookie will also pilot this paint scheme at Martinsville Speedway in October. The car helps promote the Battle at Bristol on Sept. 10, where the infield of the half-mile track will transform into a football field for a game between the Virginia Tech Hokies and Tennessee Volunteers.
Jeff Gordon: Penn State University
In partnership with sponsor Axalta, Jeff Gordon drove with a Penn State-themed paint scheme on his No. 24 Chevrolet for the Axalta 'We Paint Winners' 400 at Pocono Raceway in 2015.
