The 2016 edition of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup kicks off Sunday afternoon at Chicagoland Speedway with the running of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400. Not surprisingly, several of the favorites for this race have been good not only at this track, but pretty much all year. Here are five drivers who can win on Sunday.
Although Larson has just two starts here, they’ve produced finishes of third and seventh. On top of that, Larson is red hot right now, finishing first, third and second in the three most recent Sprint Cup races of 2016. Keep a sharp eye on Young Money on Sunday.
Granted, Stewart hasn’t run all that well lately, but he wasn’t running well at all when he came here in 2011 and won the race, kicking off a remarkable charge to his third championship. Stewart leads all drivers with three victories here.
The younger of the Busch brothers has one victory, four top fives and a whopping 408 laps led here at Chicagoland Speedway, with an excellent average finish of 11.364. This would be a good time for Busch to launch a spirited defense of his 2015 championship. Then again, it would be no surprise if any of the four Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas won on Sunday.
Already a two-time Chicagoland Speedway winner, Harvick was near the front last year when Jimmie Johnson made contact with him and cut a tire, knocking Harvick out of the race. You can bet he’ll be ready this time.
This is pretty much a no-brainer. Bad Brad has won two of the last four races at Chicagoland Speedway, has not finished worse than eighth in the last five races here, leading a total of 144 laps in that time.
