News: Stewart made an unscheduled green-flag stop, and finished 17th in the John Wayne Walding 400 on Sunday. Impact: Stewart brought the No. 14 into the pits when he thought he had a flat tire on lap 118, and went a lap down from the stop. He would get back on the lead lap by catching the lucky dog spot on the final caution, and moved up eight spots on the final restart. Stewart finished the race with a Driver Rating of 81.7, and collected 27 more points as a result. He is now 19th in the Sprint Cup standings, and will need to overtake four drivers in points or pick up a win to join the Chase field.(RotoWire, )

News: Stewart met with the media Monday on NASCAR's weekly teleconference and was asked about the status of his leg, Chevy PR reports. Impact: "I still deal with pain every day, but that's something that's not even going to probably go away by the end of the year," Stewart said. "The reality of it is there might be a point where it will never totally go away, but it doesn't keep me from doing what I love to do. Like I said, I don't feel pain in the race car." Smoke still experiences pain in his healing leg, but it's more the day-to-day variety of pain and doesn't affect his racing. The owner/driver's results on the race track have been a bit down in 2014, so it's hard to believe that the leg hasn't affected his performance somewhat.(RotoWire, )

News: Stewart announced on his Twitter page that he won in his return to sprint car action at Tri-City Motor Speedway Friday night. Impact: The sport that broke Stewart's leg at Southern Iowa Speedway last year has not kept him away from the racing that he loves. Stewart made a triumphant return to sprint car racing by winning at the Auburn, Michigan oval Friday night. Leader Dustin Daggett went off-track late and second-place Stewart was able to claim the win with a little luck. The NASCAR star returns to Sprint Cup action next weekend as the series heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400.(RotoWire, )
