News: Hamlin finished seventh in the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway Sunday afternoon. Impact: For a while it seemed the driver of the No. 11 JGR Toyota had a good shot to win the Ford EcoBoost 400. Hamlin was leading late in the race and had led a total of 50 laps on the day. He was a Top-5 fixture for most of the event and just needed the breaks to fall his way to win. However, the breaks did not go the way of the No. 11 team and Hamlin found himself starting back in traffic on the final restart. He would salvage his 18th Top 10 of the season and finish an impressive third in the Chase for the Cup standings.(RotoWire, )

News: The stakes are high for Hamlin and the No. 11 FedEx team in Sunday's Championship race at Homestead. If Hamlin wins at the 1.5-mile track, or just finishes ahead of Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano and Ryan Newman, he will capture his first series championship, NASCAR PR reports. Impact: Hamlin has a puncher's chance at the championship. He's won two of the last five races at Homestead-Miami Speedway, including last season's Ford EcoBoost 400. If any of the other championship contenders stumble, Hamlin could easily find himself in victory lane Sunday afternoon.(RotoWire, )
