News: Johnson said the cooling system for his helmet was blowing warm air and that likely caused his dehydration following last week's race at Richmond. Johnson said the issue with his cooling system was discovered by his Hendrick Motorsports team on Tuesday, the Associated Press reports. Impact: "It's nice to have a good idea as to what went wrong and why I got so hot in the race car," Johnson said. "It's a newer system that we've implemented, so we're just going back to our old faithful system that's worked for years and years. We should have the problem rectified." Johnson was severely dehydrated after the Richmond race and had to be helped to the infield care center for iv fluids. The cooling system in his No. 48 Chevrolet has been returned to the old reliable system, so this problem shouldn't resurface during the Chase.(RotoWire, )

News: Johnson fell ill after finishing eighth in the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway Saturday night. He was transported to the infield care center for treatment. Impact: It was a real battle for the six-time champion at Richmond. Johnson had to fight hard to race into the back of the Top 10 and finish there in the Federated Auto Parts 400. After pulling onto pit road, Johnson had to be helped from the No. 48 Chevrolet and taken to the infield care center suffering from severe dehydration. Hopefully some fluids and basic treatment will have the Hendrick Motorsports star back in shape and ready for his first race of the Chase at Chicago.(RotoWire, )
