Always the series to delve into new technology, the FIA Formula E Championship has pitted one of its cars up against a racing drone around the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
Watch as Mahindra Racing driver Bruno Senna pilots a racing drone while Scott Speed drives a Formula E car around the historic Mexican racetrack.
It soon becomes evident that Speed’s machine has a bit of a top speed advantage, leading Senna to take a little shortcut over to the stadium section of the racetrack. Speed takes the time to perform a few donuts before the two race back to the line.
With Formula E recently announcing that fans will soon be able to watch using virtual reality, we’re beginning to wonder if drones will soon play a role in the official series races too.
