A daring overtake on Joao Barbosa has put Pipo Derani and Tequila Patron ESM out front at the halfway mark, and Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup points-paying segment of Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen.

Derani’s No. 2 Ligier JS P2 Honda holds a 0.646 second lead over Barbosa’s No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP, which had led the majority of opening part of the race.

The No. 55 Mazda Prototype of Spencer Pigot runs third, after leading earlier in the third hour in the hands of Tristan Nunez, who had a strong run in his two-hour and 20-minute opening stint, despite an early spin.

The pole-sitting ESM entry of van Overbeek led early but a slow first pit stop saw the Ligier Honda drop to 7th while under the first, and only full-course caution of the race, for a heavy crash by Johnny Mowlem:

Mowlem was uninjured in the crash, which destroyed his No. 20 BAR1 Motorsports Oreca FLM09 after contact with the No. 18 Performance Tech entry of James French while entering the Bus Stop.

The Performance Tech car leads Prototype Challenge, now in the hands of Kenton Koch, while BMW Team RLL holds control of GT Le Mans, ahead of the pair of Ford GTs.

GTD sees Matt Bell in the No. 9 Stevenson Motorsports Audi R8 LMS out front, ahead of the pole-sitting No. 23 The Heart of Racing/Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R of Alex Riberas.
