The wait is almost over.

Dirt is coming to iRacing on Wednesday, March 29.

On April 1, 2016, iRacing.com - one of the most successful subscription-based sim racing games in the world - made the much-anticipated announcement that dirt racing would soon be coming to the service.

It turned out it wasn’t an April Fools' joke, as just a few days later Eldora Speedway became the first of several dirt tracks to sign a deal with iRacing.

Williams Grove Speedway and Volusia Speedway Park followed, and iRacing already has a list of 10 different cars that its subscribers will be able to race on the dirt courses.

One area that iRacing.com had to ensure they perfected before bringing on the dirt courses was the dynamic track surfaces. Sure enough, promo videos from iRacing.com now show that, just as in real life, the dirt track surfaces will become more compact as the races go on.

“We couldn’t be happier than to be associated with the World of Outlaws at the dawn of our online dirt racing feature,” says Steve Myers, Executive Vice President and Executive Producer for iRacing.com. “iRacers around the world are already eager to try their hands at dirt racing, and our partnership with the World of Outlaws will ramp up their enthusiasm to another level.”

“This is really exciting news for World of Outlaws fans and competitors,” says Ben Geisler, Chief Marketing Officer of the World of Outlaws. “iRacing is recognized around the world for delivering a remarkably authentic racing experience, and we can’t wait for our fans to see for themselves what it’s like to race our cars at legendary tracks like Eldora, Williams Grove, and Volusia Speedways.”

isrtv reports that dirt racing cars and tracks will be available for pre-sale on Monday. The USA International Speedway dirt course and the dirt racing versions of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Toyota Tundra and Chevrolet Silverado will be available for free for subscribers who have already purchased them. The Safety Rating system has also been adjusted for dirt racing due to the fact that contact is a part of the sport.
