NHRA Top Fuel points leader Antron Brown was checked and released by emergency services officials after his dragster went out of control and crashed near the finish line during Friday qualifying for the NHRA Summer Nationals at Atlanta Dragway. The remainder of the session was canceled because of the extended track cleanup and deteriorating weather conditions.
The engine in Brown's dragster exploded, sending the race car out of control.
Brown sent this encouraging tweet afterward, saying, "Thank all @nhra fans for your prayers and support. Want to let you know I'm A okay! @matcotools @ARMYRACING @toyotaracing boys working hard!"
Brown leads Doug Kalitta by 37 points after six of 24 events.
