It's already quite a season for the Formula One contenders in 2012. Last season, Sebastian Vettel ran away with the title. This year has featured a more balanced run with multiple winners mixing up the standings week to week. So which Formula One drivers have hoisted the trophy this year?
Sebastian Vettel, five wins
Sebastian Vettel didn't start the season as well as the two-time defending champion has in the past, but it didn't take too long for him to get back in top form. The Red Bull Racing driver celebrates after winning the Bahrain Grand Prix. And then he really got hot late in the season. Vettel hit a four-race winning streak, taking the victories in the Singapore Grand Prix, Japanese Grand Prix, Korean Grand Prix and Indian Grand Prix to take command of the championship race late in the year.
Lewis Hamilton, four wins
Lewis Hamilton took his turn in Victory Lane when he topped the field in the Canadian Grand Prix. He then hit a hot streak that put him into the heart of the championship battle for several weeks. He took the Hungarian Grand Prix title for his second victory then, two races later, backed that up with his third win of the year, in the Italian Grand Prix. Hamilton added his fourth victory as Formula One returned to American for the US Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso, three wins
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso stunned the field early, winning in the season's second race, the Malaysian Grand Prix. He then became F1's first two-time winner of the year when he followed that up with a victory in the European Grand Prix. Alonso also was first to No. 3, winning the German Grand Prix.
Jenson Button, three wins
Button opened the 2012 Formula One season on a high note as he overtook the field and won the Australian Grand Prix. He added to his tally later in the year with the victory in the Belgian Grand Prix, and then closed the season with the victory in the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Mark Webber, two wins
Red Bull Racing's Mark Webber waited until the series' premier event to take the win. Webber was the one celebrating after the Monaco Grand Prix in Monte Carlo. He followed that with a win in the British Grand Prix in July.
Pastor Maldonado, one win
Williams's Pastor Maldonadocelebrates his victory in the Spanish Grand Prix at Montmelo, near Barcelona. Maldonado become the sport's first Venezuelan winner, while Williams' 114th triumph was its first since the 2004 Brazilian GP.
