News: Betemit has been suspended for 50 games without pay for testing positive for an amphetamine, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
Impact: Betemit hasn't played in the major leagues since 2013, when he appeared in six games with the Orioles. The veteran spent all of 2014 in Triple-A, batting just .217/.298/.396 with 18 home runs and 50 RBI. He will miss the first 50 games of the season without pay, at which point he will be able to return to the Rays' organization.
