News: Castillo is in the lineup for Friday's game against the Rockies, ESPN Chicago reports.
Impact: Castillo will be the third catcher to start for the Cubs in the team's third game of the season. His playing time will be minimal, but he will most often be used against left-handers when Jon Lester does not start for the Cubs. Castillo will hit seventh in the Cubs' batting order Friday afternoon.

News: The Cubs will open the season with three catchers, including Castillo, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
Impact: "We have three good catchers here and that's really nice," manager Joe Maddon said. The Cubs may be saying all the right things and may head north with Castillo in tow, but they'd trade him quickly if they got a good offer. He'll be used sparingly, but he could be a frequent pinch hitter this year if he sticks with the team.

News: The Cubs are considering keeping Castillo as a third catcher, the team's official site reports.
Impact: The long-held belief once the Cubs picked up Miguel Montero and David Ross was that Castillo would be traded, but so far they've found no takers. With the versatile Arismendy Alcantara and Tommy La Stella already on the roster, the Cubs may be able to afford the luxury of keeping Castillo, but they're still likely to explore trade avenues.
