News: Santana largely struggled through five frames Sunday afternoon, allowing five earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four in a loss to the Mets.
Impact: Santana has been mostly underwhelming here in the last month of the regular season, as the veteran right-hander is now 1-3 with a lofty 6.55 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across four starts in September. Santana will look to reverse course and end his 2014 campaign on a high note Friday night in Philadelphia.

News: Gattis (illness) remains without a clear timetable for return, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
Impact: It's been nearly two weeks since Gattis has appeared in the starting lineup, although he was able to work in a pinch-hit appearance in Saturday's game. Manager Fredi Gonzalez hopes to have him back in a higher capacity at some point this week, but the exact day is unclear at the moment. Due to the uncertainty, he's a risky play in any weekly lineup format.
Sep 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Heyward is still unable to properly grip a bat due to swelling in his left thumb, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports.
Impact: Heyward will miss his third straight game Sunday afternoon, and although manager Fredi Gonzalez noted that a Monday return was possible, the outfielder doesn't appear optimistic. After Sunday, the Braves have just seven games remaining on their schedule, but it doesn't appear that Heyward is done for 2014 just yet. He'll likely have to complete a successful batting practice session before he returns to action, however. Fantasy owners with weekly lineups may want to explore other options due to the uncertainty.
Sep 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (illness) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets.
Impact: Gattis hasn't started in two weeks due to a kidney stone and a bout with strep throat, but he did manage to make a pinch-hit appearance Saturday. Still, it remains unclear if he'll be healthy enough to play regularly behind the plate over the last week of the season, which likely makes him an unappealing fantasy option for the final slate of games. Christian Bethancourt will make another start at catcher Sunday.
Sep 21, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Heyward (thumb) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets.
Impact: Heyward will miss his third straight game as a result of a thumb ailment that has kept the right fielder out of action since Wednesday. Emilio Bonifacio will get the starting nod in his stead, as the Braves continue to take a cautious approach.
Sat. Sep 20, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (kidney stones) is out of the lineup Saturday, MLB.com''s Mark Bowman reports.
Impact: Gattis attempted batting practice Friday but didn't pinch hit, as he would have been available if he was doing well. It's unclear how much longer it will be before he can return, but the team has no incentive to rush him as they are out of playoff contention.
Sat. Sep 20, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Heyward (thumb) is out of the lineup Saturday against the Mets, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports.
Impact: Heyward was reportedly available off the bench Friday as a defensive replacement or pinch hitter but didn't contribute in either fashion. He's out of the lineup again Saturday, and the team isn't inclined to rush him back with their playoff hopes gone.
Sat. Sep 20, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Minor left Saturday's game in the first inning with shoulder discomfort.
Impact: Minor will be evaluated further in the dugout to determine the severity of his discomfort. The 26-year-old has suffered three consecutive losses in September, and this injury news certainly doesn't make things better.
Sat. Sep 20, 2014 | STATS
News: Teheran lost his a career-worst fourth consecutive start with a 5-0 defeat to the New York Mets on Friday night.
Impact: Teheran (13-13, 2.88 ERA) has a 2.67 ERA in his four starts this month and has received a combined two runs of support. He allowed two runs in seven innings Friday and has given up two earned runs in 15 innings in his last two starts.

Impact: The Atlanta Braves shortstop, now batting .247, is 11 for 27 (.407) with three doubles in his last eight games.
Fri. Sep 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Simmons (ankle) is in the lineup Friday, batting second against the Mets.
Impact: Simmons will return to the field after leaving Wednesday's game against the Nationals after tweaking his ankle/Achilles. With the Braves basically out of contention this season, Simmons' return to the field suggests he's fully over his minor ailment.
Fri. Sep 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Johnson is not in the lineup Friday.
Impact: This is just a standard day off for Johnson, and Phil Gosselin will get the start at third base Friday.
Fri. Sep 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (kidney stone) is not in the lineup Friday.
Impact: He was diagnosed with a kidney stone on Wednesday after an extended illness, which was originally believed to be strep throat. He should still be considered day-to-day, and should be able to return before the end of the season. Christian Bethancourt will get the start behind the dish.
Fri. Sep 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Heyward (thumb) is not in the lineup Friday.
Impact: X-rays on Heyward's left thumb were negative, but with the Braves out of the playoff hunt, Atlanta has every reason to take a cautious approach with his return to the field. Ryan Doumit will get the start in right field and Heyward should still be considered day-to-day.
Fri. Sep 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Simmons was 3-for-4 in his return to the Braves' lineup Friday night.
Impact: He left Wednesday's game after tweaking his ankle/Achilles, but started and played the entire game in this one. He had a nice night at the plate, but unfortunately his three hits were not enough (the rest of the team produced just two more) to generate a win.
Fri. Sep 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Teheran allowed two runs on seven hits, did not walk a batter and struck out six over seven innings of a 5-0 loss to the Mets on Friday night.
Impact: He was locked in a classic duel with the Mets' Zack Wheeler before making his one mistake, a two-run home run off the bat of Lucas Duda in the sixth inning. Teheran (13-13, 2.88 ERA) will attempt to end his 2014 season on a positive note when he faces the Pirates at home .
Fri. Sep 19, 2014 | STATS
News: Heyward has a brace on his bruised left thumb and is out of Friday's lineup against the New York Mets.
Impact: Heyward was injured Wednesday while getting hit by a pitch from Washington's Ross Detwiler. He stayed in the game two innings after getting hit before leaving. He's received treatment the last two days. X-rays taken on Heyward's hand were negative. Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez says Heyward, a 2012 Gold Glove winner who throws with his right hand, could be available to help defensively in late innings.
Fri. Sep 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (kidney stones) is going to attempt to take batting practice before Friday's game and could pinch-hit if he responds well, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's David O'Brien reports.
Impact: This would be the first time Gattis has participated in on-field baseball activities since his illness began, and it suggests he's close to returning to the Braves' lineup. Christian Bethancourt will start behind the dish Friday.
Fri. Sep 19, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Heyward (thumb) could be used as a defensive replacement or as a pinch hitter in Friday's game, the Atlanta Journal Constitution's David O'Brien reports.
Impact: This suggests Heyward is pretty close to returning to the starting lineup. He's still considered day-to-day for now. Ryan Doumit will start in right field Friday.
Thu. Sep 18, 2014 | STATS
News: Wood had another strong start in a 3-1 win over Washington on Wednesday.

Wed. Sep 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (illness) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
Impact: Gattis has been out the last eight games with strep throat, which will force him out again Wednesday night. Christian Bethancourt will continue to start in his place.
Wed. Sep 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Simmons left Wednesday's game against the Nationals after tweaking his ankle/Achilles, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: As feared, Simmons aggravated his ankle injury decelerating into second base after a Freddie Freeman single in the first inning. However, the 25-year-old downplayed the severity of the setback, saying it's "not bad." He appears no worse than day-to-day ahead of Friday's game against the Mets.
Wed. Sep 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: X-rays on Heyward's left thumb were returned negative, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Impact: It's certainly encouraging news for Heyward, who was lifted for a pinch hitter Wednesday in the bottom of the eighth inning. He did acknowledge that thumb injuries have a tendency to linger, but with just a little over a week to go in the season, Heyward figures to play through it as much as he can. That said, consider him day-to-day ahead of Friday's opener against the Mets.
Wed. Sep 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Heyward left Wednesday's game against the Nationals in the eighth inning with an apparent injury, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Impact: The team has yet to provide a reason for his removal, but Bowman suggests his thumb may have swollen up in the innings prior to his exit. Joe Terdoslavich came in to pinch hit for Heyward, who will be afforded a day of rest for whatever's ailing him, before the team resumes play Friday.
Wed. Sep 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Simmons left Wednesday's game against the Nationals with a possible ankle injury, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: Simmons left after the third inning, with O'Brien speculating he likely aggravated his ankle injury while decelerating into second base in the first. The team figures to provide an update before long, but Simmons will be afforded a day of rest anyway, with the team off Thursday.
Wed. Sep 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis has been diagnosed with a kidney stone, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: The initial diagnosis of strep throat was accurate, but additional tests revealed irregularities, leading to the discovery of the kidney stone. Now that doctors have found the source of the issue, the hope is that Gattis, who will miss a ninth straight start Wednesday, can return in the next day or two.
Wed. Sep 17, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gosselin will start his eighth straight game Wednesday against the Nationals, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: In light of Tommy La Stella's recent offensive struggles, Gosselin seems to have emerged as manager Fredi Gonzalez's preferred option at second base. Though Gosselin continues to carry a .296 average over 93 at-bats this season and has ascended to the leadoff spot in the order, he's still largely devoid of production in all of the other major rotisserie categories. For now, he's primarily an NL-only or deep league roster consideration.
Tue. Sep 16, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (illness) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Nationals.
Impact: Gattis continues to sit out due to strep throat. Christian Bethancourt will make another start in Gattis' place Tuesday.
Tue. Sep 16, 2014 | STATS
News: Minor dropped his third straight start in a 10-3 loss at Texas on Sunday, giving up five runs in only 4 2-3 innings.
Impact: Minor seemed to have turned things around when he went 2-0 with a 1.66 ERA in three starts from Aug. 17-28, but looks mediocre since while posting a 5.00 ERA in three straight defeats.
Tue. Sep 16, 2014 | STATS
News: Freeman singled in Sunday's 10-3 loss at Texas, extending his hitting streak to 10 games.
Impact: Freeman is batting .351 during the 10-game hitting streak and he's hitting .336 over his last 38 games dating to Aug. 2.
Mon. Sep 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: La Stella is not in the Braves' lineup Monday against the Nationals.
Impact: He has been a part-time player for Atlanta of late, and Phil Gosselin will start at the keystone Monday. La Stella has just two hits over his last 17 at-bats (.118 average), so the Braves may continue to search for a hot bat until he snaps out of his current funk.
Mon. Sep 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (illness) is still out of the Braves' lineup Monday against the Nationals.
Impact: He's presumably still dealing with strep throat, and has not played since Sept. 7 as a result of his illness. Gattis should still be considered day-to-day, and Christian Bethancourt will start behind the dish for Atlanta on Monday.
Mon. Sep 15, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Santana lost Monday against the Nationals as he pitched six innings and allowed two runs, three hits and two walks to go along with six strikeouts.
Impact: Santana had allowed nine earned runs in his last two starts, so Monday was an improvement even though he suffered another loss. He has still had a fine season overall as he is 14-9 with a 3.74 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 170 strikeouts.
Sep 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Minor labored through 4.2 innings in Sunday's loss to the Rangers, giving up five earned runs on eight hits and three walks while recording just one strikeout.
Impact: After rolling through his last six starts with a 2.59 ERA and 0.98 WHIP, Minor's stretch of strong work came to a sudden stop Sunday afternoon. The Braves' lefty never seemed to find a rhythm and struggled with command throughout this outing, as his pitch count reached 107 before he was lifted in the fifth inning. Minor will be in search of a rebound next weekend against the Mets.
Sep 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Upton is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
Impact: Including Sunday's game, Upton will now have started just two of the last seven games in center field for the Braves. Emilio Bonifacio will supplant him once again Sunday.
Sep 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: La Stella is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
Impact: The second base position has become something of a revolving door for the Braves of late, as no player has started two straight games at the position since La Stella started four in a row between Sept. 2 and Sept. 6. Ramiro Pena will man second base for the Braves on Sunday.
Sep 14, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Johnson is not in the lineup Sunday for the second straight day.
Impact: Johnson is really struggling with the bat in September, so manager Fredi Gonzalez decided to hold him out consecutive games to give him mental break. Phil Gosselin will man the hot corner for the Braves in Johnson's place.
Sat. Sep 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (illness) will not play Sunday against the Rangers, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: Look for Gerald Laird to man the backstop in the finale against Texas, with Christian Bethancourt having started the last four for Atlanta. Gattis missed a fifth straight game Saturday due to strep throat and could remain out until Tuesday or Wednesday.
Sat. Sep 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (strep throat) is not expected to play Sunday against the Rangers, Jon Morosi of FOX Sports reports.
Impact: Gattis was said to be doing better Saturday morning, but a return for Sunday's finale is unlikely, according to Morosi, who went on to say Gattis may not play until Tuesday or Wednesday. Christian Bethancourt is making his fourth straight start behind the plate Saturday, so Gerald Laird figures to get the nod Sunday.
Sat. Sep 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (illness) was felling better on Saturday morning, according to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Impact: Although not in the lineup Saturday, Gattis appears to stand a fairly good chance of returning for Sunday's series finale in light of his progress. For what it's worth, O'Brien said he wouldn't be surprised if Gattis came off the bench Saturday, after missing the previous four games with strep throat.
Sat. Sep 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Bonifacio will start in center field and bat leadoff Saturday against the Rangers.
Impact: A changing of the guard may be taking place in Atlanta, as Bonifacio is set to start over for B.J. Upton in center for the fourth time in six games. However, Bonifacio has failed to make the most of his increased opportunities, with just one hit in 16 at-bats so far this month, and manager Fredi Gonzalez may be inclined to go with a timeshare at the position. Moreover, Jason Heyward, who is batting fifth Saturday, seems likely to continue leading off most days.
Sat. Sep 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Heyward will bat fifth Saturday against the Rangers.
Impact: Heyward was originally penciled in atop the order, but apparently manager Fredi Gonzalez has had a change of heart, as Emilio Bonifacio is now set to lead off for Atlanta. It marks just the second time Heyward has been out of the leadoff spot this month.
Sat. Sep 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Johnson is not in the lineup Saturday against the Rangers.
Impact: The runner-up for the NL batting title last season, Johnson has gone 3-for-32 to begin September and is now batting just .262/.290/.357 on the year. He'll give way to Phil Gosselin at third base Saturday.
Sat. Sep 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (illness) remains out of the lineup Saturday against the Rangers.
Impact: A bout of strep throat has already cost Gattis four starts, and he'll sit again Saturday as Christian Bethancourt mans the backstop for Atlanta. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said Friday that he was hopeful to have Gattis back at some point this weekend, but a return for Sunday's series finale is by no means guaranteed.
Sat. Sep 13, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Upton is not in the lineup Saturday against the Rangers.
Impact: Emilio Bonifacio will supplant Upton in center for the fourth time in six games. While Upton has launched a pair of homers already this month, he's batting a dismal .187/.298/.309 since the All-Star break, and it seems manager Fredi Gonzalez may finally be at the end of his rope with the 30-year-old.
Fri. Sep 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Wood had it all together Friday night, allowing just one run on four hits, walking two and striking out nine over seven innings, but was left with a no-decision in the Braves' loss to Texas.
Impact: Wood has been masterful having allowed more than two runs just once in his last nine starts dating back to the end of July, but he has just three wins over that stretch as the Braves continually fail to provide him with much run support. He'll hope for a little offense in his next start at home against the division-leading Nationals.
Fri. Sep 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (illness) is out of the lineup Friday against the Rangers.
Impact: Gattis has been out of the lineup since Monday with strep throat, but manager Fredi Gonzalez hopes to have him back at some point this weekend. Friday is no longer an option for Gattis' return, as Christian Bethancourt will start behind home plate and bat seventh for the Braves.
Fri. Sep 12, 2014 | RotoWire
News: La Stella is out of the lineup Friday against the Rangers.
Impact: La Stella will get the day off Friday in favor of Phil Gosselin, who will bat second for the Braves on Friday. He hit well initially after joining the Braves, but has slowed down as of late, collecting just three hits over his past 20 at-bats.
Thu. Sep 11, 2014 | STATS
News: Upton went 2 for 5 with three RBIs in Wednesday's win in Washington.
Impact: Upton had been in a 2-for-17 slump, but he's 3 for 9 with five RBIs in his last two games. His 96 for the season are already a career high.
Thu. Sep 11, 2014 | RotoWire
News: La Stella (migraine) went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's win over the Nationals.
Impact: Scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to a migraine headache, La Stella's symptoms subsided enough to where he able to return for Wednesday's series finale. Despite the 1-for-3 effort, he's still batting just .222/.296/.294 since the All-Star break, and with the Braves just 1.5 games out of the second Wild Card spot, he could find himself sitting more in favor of Phil Gosselin in the weeks ahead.
Wed. Sep 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Upton went 1-for-4 with his 11th homer of the season in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Nationals.
Impact: Upton parked a Stephen Strasburg pitch over the left field wall to begin the top of the fifth inning, his second homer of the month and fourth since the All-Star break. It was Upton's first start since last Saturday, as manager Fredi Gonzalez turned to Emilio Bonifacio to man center in the finale against Miami as well as the first two games against Washington. While it's uncertain how the playing time will be divvied up moving forward, Gonzalez has been loyal to Upton this season and Wednesday's performance likely earned Upton at least another start or two this week.
Wed. Sep 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Harang improved to 11-10 with a win over the Nationals on Wednesday. He was charged with one unearned run on six hits, with nine strikeouts against zero walks over seven innings.
Impact: It was a nice bounce-back performance from Harang, who was clobbered for six runs on 10 hits over 3.2 innings against Miami in his last start. In fact, the right-hander outdueled Stephen Strasburg, scattering six singles while fanning nine, his highest total since May 11. Harang has had tremendous success against Washington this season, with just two earned runs over 20 innings (three starts), and he'll get them at home his next time out.
Wed. Sep 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Simmons is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Nationals.
Impact: Simmons is coming off a 0-for-10 stretch at the plate over the past three games, and will get a day to clear his head. Phil Gosselin is in the lineup at shortstop, batting second for the Braves.
Wed. Sep 10, 2014 | RotoWire
News: La Stella (head) is back in the lineup Wednesday against the Nationals.
Impact: La Stella was scratched Tuesday due to migraine headaches, but is back in the lineup Wednesday as his head must have cleared.
Tue. Sep 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis (illness) remains out of the lineup Tuesday in Washington.
Impact: Gattis' absence will extend into a second day as a result of strep throat. Christian Bethancourt will handle catcher and bat seventh in place of Gattis.
Tue. Sep 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Santana gave up six runs -- five of them earned -- on eight hits while walking four and striking out five through five innings in a loss to the Nationals on Tuesday.
Impact: Santana still owns an attractive 14-8 record after this one, despite the fact he's only grabbed one win in his last four starts. Perhaps somewhat alarming, however, is that he's walked four batters in two of his last three appearances, and has posted a 20:46 BB:K since his 11-K shutout gem against the Padres on July 28. Nonetheless, Santana will take on the very same Nationals in his next start Monday, this time at home.
Tue. Sep 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Upton is out of the Braves' lineup again Tuesday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: Upton will yield center-field duties to Emilio Bonifacio again Tuesday, marking the first time all season Upton has sat out three consecutive games. Manager Fredi Gonzalez has not tipped his hand as to how he plans to divvy up the playing time over the final 17 games, though it seems safe to say Bonifacio will be playing more frequently. Upton is batting just .206/.284/.327 through 538 plate appearances this season.
Tue. Sep 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said he is hopeful Gattis (illness) can play in this weekend's series against the Rangers, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Impact: While Gattis was said to be doing a little better Tuesday, he will stay back at the hotel again and it sounds like Gonzalez has effectively ruled him out for Wednesday's finale against Washington. The team is then off Thursday, and with the DH option available in Texas, the hope is that Gattis will be able to play even if he isn't quite at 100 percent.
Tue. Sep 9, 2014 | RotoWire
News: La Stella was scratched from Tuesday's lineup with a migraine headache.
Impact: La Stella is likely no worse than day-to-day as a result of the migraine, but if his symptoms fail to subside overnight, the team could always hold him out of the finale against Washington. Manager Fredi Gonzalez was forced to shuffle his lineup significantly with La Stella under the weather. Phil Gosselin was inserted at second base, Jason Heyward was moved to the five-hole and Emilio Bonifacio is now penciled in to the leadoff spot.
Mon. Sep 8, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Upton is not in Monday's lineup.
Impact: Upton typically sits out one or two games per week, and he'll take a seat for the second game in a row Monday, with Emilio Bonifacio playing center field. Unless Upton is stealing bases, he's more harmful than helpful in fantasy, as his .206 batting average speaks to his current skills at the plate.
Mon. Sep 8, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis has been diagnosed with strep throat and is not in Monday's lineup.
Impact: It's not clear how much time Gattis will miss due to the illness, but it could be a few games. Gerald Laird will take his place behind the dish Monday.
Mon. Sep 8, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Freeman provided all the offense the Braves could muster Monday, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single.
Impact: Freeman had been struggling in September after a red-hot August, but now he has hit safely in five straight games. The first baseman is the owner of a .291 average to go with 18 home runs and 71 RBI.
Mon. Sep 8, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Minor was a tough-luck loser Monday, holding the Nationals to two runs in six innings.
Impact: Minor has had a trying year, but finally seems to be turning things on of late. The lefty has allowed no more than three runs in any of his last six starts. Minor will carry a 4.58 ERA into his start against the Rangers this weekend.
Sun. Sep 7, 2014 | STATS
News: Gattis went 3 for 5 with his 22nd home run in Saturday's 4-3 win at Miami.
Impact: Gattis delivered the go-ahead homer in the 10th inning. He had been hitting .194 with two homers in his previous 12 games.
Sep 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Teheran was tagged for eight hits and four earned runs in 5.1 innings against Miami on Sunday.
Impact: Teheran breezed through the first four innings, but then ran into the trouble in the fifth and sixth frames before getting pulled for Luis Avilan. Teheran, who still owns a 3.00 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 168:47 K:BB ratio in 201 innings this season, will try to fare better in his next scheduled start Saturday against the Rangers.
Sep 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez plans to have Gattis in his lineup "as frequently as possible" during the closing month of the season, MLB.com's Mark Bowman reports.
Impact: Gattis will make his third straight start for the Braves on Sunday, and it sounds as if Gonzalez doesn't plan on letting up. The 28-year-old backstop is slugging .513 with 22 home runs this season, and the Braves certainly need that bat in the lineup if they intend on competing for one of the final NL playoff spots. It appears Gattis will start all three games of the upcoming series against the Nationals, and followed by a Thursday team day off, the catcher could get some "rest" by serving as the DH in the following series on the road against the Rangers.
Sep 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Upton is out of the lineup Sunday against the Marlins.
Impact: Upton has made four straight starts in center field, but will receive a day of rest of the week in favor of Emilio Bonifacio. With Upton batting just over the dreaded Mendoza Line at .206 this season, it's only getting tougher for manager Fredi Gonzalez to justify keeping him atop the lineup as the team chases down one of the final playoff spots.
Sep 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: La Stella is out of the lineup Sunday against the Marlins.
Impact: La Stella has started four straight games for the Braves, but will give way to Philip Gosselin at the keystone Sunday. After a hot start to the year, La Stella hit just .193 in August, bringing his season batting average down to .257. He's recorded just one RBI in his past eight games and will get Sunday off to clear his head.
Sep 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Gattis went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored scored Saturday against Miami.
Impact: Initially ruled a triple, Gattis hit a leadoff home run in the top of the 10th inning to give the Braves a one-run lead. Gattis swung on the first pitch and drove the ball deep into center field right above the yellow line. It proved to be the game winner as the Braves ended up winning 4-3.
Sep 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Kimbrel pitched a perfect tenth inning to earn his 43rd save against the Marlins on Saturday.
Impact: It was Kimbrel's 43rd save in 47 opportunities this season. The 26-year-old closer hasn't given up a run since Aug. 2 and hasn't blown a save since June 20. He's tied with Trevor Rosenthal for the NL-lead in saves.
Sep 7, 2014 | RotoWire
News: Wood allowed two runs and six hits in seven innings while striking out five and walking two in a no-decision against the Marlins on Saturday.
Impact: Wood's scoreless streak of 14 innings was snapped when Jeff Baker hit an RBI single in the fourth. Over his past six starts, Wood has had an ERA of 1.94 and a 40:10 K:BB ratio. He'll take the mound again Friday at Texas.
