Tim Tebow has set a date to officially work out for MLB teams

It looks like Tim Tebow will get a legitimate shot at a career in Major League Baseball after all.

The former NFL quarterback will hold a private showcase for interested MLB teams Aug. 30 in Los Angeles, reports Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.

Adam Schefter later reported that 20 teams are confirmed to attend the workout, although it's still unknown which teams are seriously interested.

Tebow, 29, has not played competitive baseball since his senior year of high school but a number of MLB scouts and former players think the former Heisman Trophy winner has what it takes to make it in the big leagues.

Selected by the Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, Tebow had a record of 8-6 as a starting quarterback, throwing 17 touchdowns for 2,422 yards with nine interceptions. He last played in a regular-season NFL game in 2012, as the New York Jets' backup quarterback.
