Team USA was the latest squad to provide some late-inning drama in the World Baseball Classic on Wednesday night. Trailing 2-1 entering the eighth inning of the second-round opener against Venezuela, the U.S. bats finally got to work.
Adam Jones – the hero in Team USA’s walk-off win over Colombia in first-round play Friday night – tied it up with a solo shot to lead off the inning. The San Diego native came up huge again in front of his hometown fans at Petco Park on Wednesday.

Next up for the U.S. is a matchup against Puerto Rico on Friday night, followed by a first-round rematch on Saturday night against the Dominican Republic, which handed the Americans their only loss in the tournament so far (a thrilling 7-5 comeback win this past Saturday).
