Swisher (hip) back in Yankees’ lineup at DH

Nick Swisher is back in the New York Yankees’ lineup as the

designated hitter against Boston.

The switch-hitter sat out six straight games with a strained

left hip flexor before pinch-hitting on Saturday. Manager Joe

Girardi said Sunday that the team thinks Swisher is healthy, but

starting him at DH was simply a way to ease him back in.

Ichiro Suzuki was set to play right field again, with Andruw

Jones in left. When Swisher returns to his regular spot in right,

Suzuki will shift to left for the first time in his major league

career.

Girardi said that could happen Monday night against

Baltimore.

Swisher, plugged in behind cleanup man Robinson Cano, was

hitting .257 with 14 homers and 54 RBIs.
