FOX brought baseball to the US military personnel during Fox Sports’ Spring Training to the Troops initiative.
A FOX-led contingent of MLB greats, current players, announcers and FOX Sports Girls embarked on a goodwill trip to US Army Garrison Grafenwoehr in Germany, one of the Army’s premier training bases in the world.
The visit, from Feb. 5-7, included meals with the troops, visits to hospitals and schools, morning physical training and combat simulations with the soldiers.
The MLB participants also conducted a youth baseball clinic, visited schools on base and joined solders in a competitive game of Wiffle Ball.
The Wiffle Ball game — which pitted former and current MLB players such as David Justice, Heath Bell and Wade Boggs against a team comprised of FOX Sports Girls and soldiers from the 709th Military Police Battalion and the 172nd Infantry Brigade — was the marquee event of the trip.
