#RE2PECT: Celebs, athletes & God — Twitter bows to Jeter

Derek Jeter provided Yankee fans their Hollywood ending in the Bronx, walking off a hero in the final home game of his career Thursday night.

But his final chapter hardly contained the final words written on his moment that even his opponents said just seem scripted out of a movie.

Social media exploded when The Captain delivered his walk-off single in the Yankees’ 6-5 win over the Orioles, the thumbs kicking into high gear before pinch-runner Antoan Richardson slid home with the winning run.

And what better place to begin than with the one responsible for divine intervention?

And about that Hollywood ending thing? How about some people used to working with scripts — in various forms of media.

Like we said, his opponents were impressed.

So were fellow legends of the game.

Some of the guys who play (or played) another sport on Sunday were watching Jeter on Thursday.

And some other people who make a living in sports, but know the importance of Jeter beyond the diamond, sounded off.

And of course, the current MLBers showed the most love.

Watch: Eli Manning talks about Jeter’s impact on his career and reacts to Jeter’s walkoff single.
