Sign him up! Philly beer vendor catches foul ball — in bucket

A Phillies beer vendor makes a nice snag of foul ball -- with his bucket.

Maybe the Phillies should start looking to the stands of Citizens Bank Park for help with their struggles this season.

Or, more specifically, their beer vendors.

In the bottom of the sixth inning on Saturday against the Dodgers, Carlos Ruiz hit a foul ball that went screaming into the stands. While one fan makes a great effort to snag the ball — it's the beer vendor who makes the catch, in his bucket, no less.

The vendor, Earl Chaney, has worked as a vendor at the Phillies home park since it opened in 2004, but this is the first time he's managed to catch a foul ball, intentionally or otherwise.

"I was trying to get out of the way, and then ... it was there," Chaney said.

It wasn't the first time a ball had come his way.

"I've already been hit once; I didn't want to get hit again," he said.

The crowd, expectedly, went wild after Chaney caught the ball.

"I had to give out a lot of high-fives," he said.
