Yankees continue their rebuild by shipping Carlos Beltran to the Rangers

The New York Yankees continued their rebuild by selling off another trade asset for the MLB trade deadline on Monday.

New York sent outfielder Carlos Beltran to the Texas Rangers for pitching prospects Dillon Tate, Eric Swanson and Nick Green. Tate is a former No. 4 overall pick who has had a rough start to his pro career.

Beltran is having a productive season at 39, hitting .304 with 22 home runs, accounting for 2.2 wins above replacement in 99 games with the Yankees. That production should continue by heading to Arlington, where balls fly.

The Yankees have done a ton of work before the trade deadline. Before trading Beltran, they shipped Aroldis Chapman to the Chicago Cubs for two of the Cubs' top five prospects -- touted shortstop Gleyber Torres and outfielder Billy McKinney -- and pitcher Adam Warren.

Then over the weekend, they dealt reliever Andrew Miller to the Cleveland Indians for four players, including coveted prospects Justus Sheffield (pitcher, no relation to Gary) and Clint Frazier (outfielder).
