Davis leaves with apparent injury
Davis grimaced and grabbed at his side after hitting a sacrifice fly in the third inning Saturday night. He never ran out of the batter's box, and bent over in foul territory not far from home plate.
Mets manager Terry Collins and a trainer came out of the dugout as Davis walked off the field. Lucas Duda replaced him at first base in the bottom of the third.
The team later announced that Davis had a strained right oblique. There was no immediate word on how long he might be sidelined.
A slumping Davis was demoted to the minors in June but has looked better at the plate since he was recalled in early July.
He hit a two-run homer Friday night in New York's 3-2 victory and entered Saturday batting .206 with nine home runs and 32 RBIs.
