Look how close this bat comes to kid’s face in stands

Major League Baseball is trying to increase fan safety in the stands by issuing official guidelines for netting to protect those close to the field.

Why? Because not everybody has the reflexes to do this.

That was the scene Saturday at a game between the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates, where a bat went flying into the stands while this kid sat either unaware or unable to act in time. Luckily for him, the guy next to hit stuck his arm out there and saved the day.

Want a better look at how close it was?

That’s some nice camerawork by photog Christopher Horner.
