Red Sox broadcaster’s son due in court on murder charges

Jared Remy has been charged with the stabbing death of his girlfriend.

The son of Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy is due in court Tuesday for a status conference on murder charges he faces in the killing of his girlfriend.

Jared Remy is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing of Jennifer Martel at the couple’s Waltham apartment last year.

Remy appeared in Middlesex Superior Court on Thursday while his lawyer and prosecutors met with a judge in her chambers. The hearing is scheduled to continue Tuesday morning.

Remy has pleaded not guilty in the death of 27-year-old Martel. He was arrested Aug. 13 after he allegedly pushed Martel into a mirror. He was released on his own recognizance on Aug. 14 and is accused of stabbing Martel the next day.

The couple has a 5-year-old daughter.
