HR Derby tweets: Cespedes prevails

Gar Ryness — you may know him best as
Batting Stance Guy — was on the scene in
New York for the MLB All-Star Game festivities. On Monday night, we
gave him the keys to our @MLBonFOX Twitter account to track all the
fun from the Home Run Derby. His tweets are below.

10:56 p.m. ET

Oakland A’s slugger
Yoenis
Cespedes
defeated Washington’s
Bryce
Harper
for the 2013 Home Run Derby crown. The Cuban native
proudly earned the belt with his ninth blast, a 455-foot shot, in
the final round — and he still had five outs to go.

Final-round results — most in round wins
(first two rounds don’t count)

Cespedes — 9 (longest 455 feet)

Harper — 8 (447 feet)

Second-round results — top two composite
scores advanced

Cespedes — 6 (longest 416 feet) = Total 23

Harper — 8 (432 feet) = Total 16

Michael Cuddyer — 8 (417 feet) = Total 15

Chris Davis — 4 (461 feet) = Total 12

First-round results — top four advanced

Cespedes — 17 (longest 456 feet)

Davis — 8 (451 feet)

Harper — 8 (471 feet)

Cuddyer — 7 (421 feet)

Pedro Alvarez — 6 (461 feet)

Prince Fielder — 5 (483 feet)

David Wright — 5 (403 feet)

Robinson Cano — 4 (406 feet)

4:45 p.m.

Hitting for the NL will be Colorado’s Michael Cuddyer (16 homers
this season), the Mets’ David Wright (13), Pittsburgh’s Pedro
Alvarez (24) and Washington’s Bryce Harper (13). However, some
— including teammate Adam Eaton — feel Arizona slugger
Paul Goldschmidt, who has 21 homers and leads the NL with 77 RBI,
should be in the NL lineup.

Representing the AL is Baltimore’s Chris Davis, who leads the
majors with 37 homers, Detroit’s Prince Fielder (16), the Yankees’
Robinson Cano (21) and Oakland’s Yoenis Cespedes (15). Fielder, the
defending champ and also the 2009 winner — when he was with
the Milwaukee Brewers — hopes to tie Ken Griffey Jr. as the
only slugger to claim three HR Derby trophies.

The Fox Sports Girls are in New York, too. Here’s FS Southwest
Girl Kaime’s prediction.
