Ethier on Dodgers roster for NLDS despite injury

Outfielder Andre Ethier is on the Los Angeles Dodgers roster for
the NL division series against the Atlanta Braves despite an
injured ankle that likely will limit him to pinch-hitting
duties.

Ethier hasn’t played in the outfield since Sept. 13, but the
Dodgers decided he had enough value to be included on their 25-man
roster – especially with injured slugger Matt Kemp out for the
playoffs.

Skip Schumaker is starting in center field in Game 1 Thursday
night.

Los Angeles also picked infielder Dee Gordon and utilityman
Scott Van Slyke ahead of Jerry Hairston. The 11-man pitching staff
includes left-hander Chris Capuano.

Edinson Volquez (9-12, 5.71 ERA in 32 starts), Carlos Marmol
(2-4, 4.41 in 52 appearances) and Brandon League (6-4, 5.30 in 58
games) were left off.
