LOS ANGELES (AP) The Dodgers placed pitchers Hyun-Jin Ryu and Casey Fien on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday because of elbow tendinitis.
Ryu made one start for the team after being reinstated from the 60-day DL on July 7. He allowed six runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings against San Diego in his first start since September 2014. The South Korean left-hander had been sidelined since spring training while recovering from left shoulder surgery.
Fien was 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA in 21 relief appearances for the Dodgers after being claimed from Minnesota on May 7.
The Dodgers reinstated outfielder Joc Pederson from the 15-day DL and recalled pitcher Luis Avilan from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Pederson missed 15 games because of a sprained right shoulder after crashing into the outfield wall June 28 in Milwaukee.
Avilan, who turned 27 Tuesday, appeared in six games in three previous stints with the Dodgers, allowing three runs in 3.0 innings.
