The Chicago White Sox announced Thursday the signing of right-handed reliever Matt Albers to a one-year deal:

He’s on the hook for $2.25 million with a $3 million team option for 2017:

Albers, 33, was extremely effective for the White Sox in 2015, compiling a 1.21 ERA in 30 appearances. His 1.14 second-half ERA was the lowest among AL relievers.

He joins a bullpen comprised of closer David Robertson, righties Nate Jones, Jake Petricka, Zach Putnam and lefties Zach Duke and Dan Jennings.
