The Houston Astros aren’t messing around this offseason, adding yet another bat Saturday by agreeing to a one-year, $16 million deal with free-agent outfielder/DH Carlos Beltran.

Beltran, who will turn 40 in April, hit .295/.337/.513 with 29 homers and 93 RBI with the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees this past season.

This will be his second stint with Houston, for which he played during the final three-plus months of the 2004 regular season and the postseason after a trade from the Kansas City Royals.

Earlier this offseason, the Astros acquired catcher Brian McCann from the Yankees, and signed free-agent outfielder Josh Reddick and free-agent right-hander Charlie Morton.
