Bryce Harper says he should have gone on disabled list a month ago
Bryce Harper’s all-out play has taken a toll on his body. But Harper, who was placed on the disabled list Saturday, reportedly said he should have gone on the DL a month ago after crashing into the wall at Turner Field.
"I think after I hit the wall here, I think I should have went on the DL, just try to get better and came back 15 days later," Harper told Nats Insider. "With a lot of guys out, I wanted to stay in the lineup the way I was swinging it. Of course, I want to play every day. It's something that, maybe I'll learn more in my career to take off 15 days instead of lose the month or whatever it is."
Despite his fast start this season (.287, 12 HRs, 23 RBI), Harper’s signature moment arguably was when he crashed head-first into the right-field wall at Dodger Stadium last month. Harper left that game with blood trickling from his neck.
Harper might have a point about getting rest after his encounter with the Turner Field wall. His numbers have tailed off dramatically since hitting the wall in Atlanta on April 29.
