Beltre headed out for unwanted rehab
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)
Beltre has been out since July 23 because of a strained left hamstring. He aggravated the injury Aug. 6 when rounding first base during a running session.
Beltre says he's ''good enough to play'' and would rather not go on a rehab assignment. It will be his first rehab assignment since 2001.
Before getting hurt, Beltre hit .276 with 20 homers and 76 RBI in 100 games.
Infielder Andres Blanco, on the disabled list for the second time with back issues, also will start rehab with Round Rock in Omaha, Neb., on Monday.
