Texas minor leaguer banned 15 games for fan fracas

Texas Rangers minor leaguer Engel Beltre has been suspended 15 games by the Texas League after a confrontation with fans during a Double-A game.
The Rangers said Thursday that Beltre will report to the team's spring training complex in Arizona and work out there during his suspension, which began with Frisco's game Wednesday.
Beltre, who is on the Rangers' 40-man roster, was suspended after he apparently heaved a plastic trash can into the stands at fans after water bottles were thrown at Frisco players at the end of Tuesday's 6-5 loss in San Antonio.
The fracas came soon after a disputed call in the ninth inning when umpires overturned a potential three-run, go-ahead homer and called it a ground-rule double.
