Rangers 3B Beltre leaves with strained shoulder
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)
Beltre landed hard on his left side when he made a diving stop of Russ Canzler's grounder in the second inning. The Rangers announced that Beltre will have a precautionary MRI and manager Ron Washington said the results will not be made available until Thursday.
Josh Hamilton also left the game as a precaution in the eighth inning because of sore left knee.
After Beltre drew a walk in the third, Rangers manager Ron Washington and trainer Jamie Reed checked on the three-time All-Star. Beltre remained in the game before leaving when the Rangers took the field in the fifth.
Mike Olt, who replaced Beltre at third, also left the game in the bottom of the seventh. Olt was limping just before he reached first beating out an infield single.
Ian Kinsler moved to third base for the first time in his career, and Jurickson Profar took over for Kinsler at second.
Beltre hit a two-run homer in the first, his 13th in his last 20 games. He came in batting .317 with 31 HRs and 90 RBIs.
