The deal announced Tuesday leaves the defending AL East champions with no remaining arbitration cases.
Center fielder B.J. Upton and the Rays agreed Monday to a $4,825,000, one-year deal that makes Upton the highest-paid player on the team.
Sonnanstine earned $416,900 last season, when he went 3-1 with a 4.44 ERA in four starts and 37 relief appearances. The 27-year-old led the Rays with 63 relief innings pitched.
Tampa Bay's bullpen has been decimated by free agency. Five relievers - All-Star closer Rafael Soriano, Joaquin Benoit, Randy Choate, Dan Wheeler and Grant Balfour - have signed with other teams this winter.
