Philadelphia Phillies rookie reliever Michael Stutes strained a
right side muscle and was removed after throwing only three pitches
in the sixth inning against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Stutes fell behind 3-0 to Lance Berkman leading off the sixth
before looking to the dugout for help and pointing at his right
shoulder. Kyle Kendrick replaced Stutes with the Phillies trailing
Stutes had made eight appearances, seven of them scoreless. He
began the year as the closer for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
