Minnesota Twins near agreement with Josh Willingham.

The Twins, facing the loss of Michael Cuddyer in free agency, were near an agreement Tuesday with free-agent outfielder Josh Willingham, according to major-league sources.
Willingham, who turns 32 on Feb. 17, likely will play left field for the Twins, who have been trying to re-sign both Cuddyer and free-agent outfielder Jason Kubel.
Cuddyer, seeking a three- and possibly four-year contract for at least $10 million per season, is considering the Rockies, among other clubs, sources said. The Rockies are making “an aggressive push” for him, according to one source.
Willingham played in the American League for the first time last season, batting .246/.332/.477 for the Oakland Athletics with 29 home runs and 98 RBIs in 136 games.
