Guillen says Nats can overcome Strasburg shutdown
The Nationals are expected to cut short Strasburg's first full season following elbow ligament replacement surgery because of an innings limit. Next Wednesday's outing at the New York Mets is expected to be his final start.
''In my opinion, what I see, do they need him? Yes, but the four guys they have behind him are ... good, too,'' Guillen said before Strasburg pitched against the Marlins on Friday night. ''If you're don't have somebody to cover the hole, maybe you think about it. But they have a lot of guys. They're winning every ... night. They're not just waiting for Strasburg to win.''
Strasburg began the day 15-6 with a 2.94 ERA and 195 strikeouts in 156 1-3 innings this season for Washington, which had the best record in the major leagues.
