Fenway Park sold out its 745th consecutive game this afternoon, the most consecutive sellouts in North American pro sports history. They passed the Portland Trail Blazers, who had 744. Portland’s streak is not active.
Fenway’s first sellout of the streak was on May 15, 2003 in a 12-3 win against the Texas Rangers, the second season of the team’s new ownership. Unfortunately, the milestone was reached in a game in which the Red Sox lost 4-3 to the Washington Nationals.
The average paid attendance during the streak has been 36,544.
