Report: ChiSox's Dunn has appendectomy
KANSAS CITY, Mo.
The 31-year-old designated hitter was taken to a hospital late Tuesday following the ChiSox's 7-6 loss in 12 innings at Kansas City. Dunn was 0-for-4 with a walk and was hit in the leg by a pitch, and was removed from the game in the 12th inning for a pinch runner.
Dunn has only been placed on the disabled list once in his 11-year career, and that was in 2003 when he tore a ligament in his thumb.
The hulking slugger was signed by Chicago in the offseason to a four-year, $56 million contract. He is batting .286 in four games this season with one homer and five RBIs.
