Blue Jays put Rasmus on DL, adds Kawasaki, Pillar
The Blue Jays recalled infielder Munenori Kawasaki from Triple-A Buffalo and selected outfielder Kevin Pillar from Triple-A on Wednesday.
Rasmus had missed the past two games after hurting himself on a checked swing Sunday. His DL move was made retroactive to Aug. 12.
Rasmus is hitting .273 with 18 home runs and 60 RBIs.
Pillar was batting .299 with four home runs and 27 RBIs at Triple-A. He will make his major league debut against Boston on Wednesday night, starting in left field and batting eighth.
Kawasaki hit .213 with one home run and 20 RBIs in two previous appearances with Toronto.
The Blue Jays needed to fill two roster spots after trading utilityman Emilio Bonifacio to Kansas City earlier Wednesday for a player to be named.
