3B Ramirez likely headed to DL for Brewers

The veteran slugger got hurt fielding a bouncer in the fourth inning of Saturday's 5-4 win over the New York Yankees. Ramirez had been showing signs of breaking out of a slump after singling and hitting a high homer to left earlier in that game.
Ramirez said it was the first hamstring injury of his 16-year career. Manager Ron Roenicke said before Sunday's game against the Yankees that the team was planning on a disabled list stint for Ramirez.
Outfielder Ryan Braun (right oblique) is eligible to come off the disabled list for Tuesday's game against Pittsburgh. Roenicke said he was unsure whether Braun might need a rehab game or be ready right away.
Milwaukee also faces the prospect of potentially losing star outfielder Carlos Gomez. He has appealed a three-game suspension for his role in bench-clearing fracas last month in Pittsburgh, and Roenicke expected to hear from the league in the next few days about whether the punishment might be reduced.
Braun went on the disabled list April 26. After getting out to a 20-7 start, Milwaukee still has a five-game lead in the NL Central over St. Louis despite going 3-7 the last 10 games.
''We've got to get through this period playing good baseball. Our pitching I think is good enough to do that. We've just got to figure out with scrapping some runs,'' Roenicke said.
