Thomas was placed on the disabled list July 10 with what was described as inflammation in his left ankle, but an MRI revealed a stress fracture in the foot. Doctors re-evaluated Thomas on Friday and recommended that the 36-year-old remain in a cast for another six-to-eight weeks. "Frank's foot is healing on schedule, but these things just take time," said White Sox podiatrist Dr. Lowell Scott Weil. Thomas initially injured the foot running the bases during a loss in Florida on June 17. He aggravated the problem against Minnesota a few weeks later. The "Big Hurt" finished the 2004 season hitting .271 with 18 homers and 49 RBI this season. Thomas, who has played his entire 12-year career with the White Sox, has 436 career home runs.
