News: Romo tossed a perfect inning en route to his 26th hold of the year in Tuesday's win over the Cardinals.
Impact: After a rocky first half, Romo has really turned it on in August. He has tossed 7.1 scoreless innings while striking out 12 and walking none. Romo is starting to look like the elite back-end arm he once was. This also bodes well for his chances of taking over the closer role should Santiago Casilla falter down the stretch.

News: Romo earned his second save with a scoreless inning Monday against Milwaukee. He struck out two.
Impact: Romo took the closer's role for the night after Santiago Casilla needed 20 pitches to record the save on Sunday. Casilla is still the closer, but Romo has been righting the ship lately. He has five consecutive scoreless appearances under his belt, including two saves, and has lowered his ERA from 5.19 to 4.26 over that span.

News: Romo got the four-out save in Saturday's win over the Diamondbacks, striking out two in the process.
Impact: The save was Romo's first of the season, but it appears manager Bruce Bochy was just giving his usual closer, Santiago Casilla, the night off. Bochy did mention that he would try mixing and matching when Casilla was struggling prior to the All-Star break; however, Casilla has righted the ship since then, and Romo hasn't been pitching well enough to warrant the closer change (4.71 ERA). Unless we see a trend in the next couple of games, it is safe to say that Romo will retain his setup role for the time being.
