News: Goins is fighting for the starting second baseman role and could make the roster even if he loses the starting spot, John Lott of the National Post reports.
Impact: Goins is having a strong spring at the plate, batting .313 with a double, a triple and a home run. He has never been known for his bat, as he hit just .188 in 67 games with the Blue Jays last season; however, he is one of the strongest defenders in the organization. If Goins isn't tasked with the second baseman role, he could spell both Devon Travis at second and Jose Reyes at shortstop, Goins' natural position. His meager hitting production at the major league level gives him limited fantasy value, but if he continues his improvement at the plate and wins the starting job, he's not a bad play in deeper and dynasty leagues.
