News: De La Rosa is not considered a lock for the Arizona rotation to begin the season, but he is leading candidate to handle one of the three open spots behind Josh Collmenter and Jeremy Hellickson.
Impact: With a long list of options in camp vying for the three available spots, and the potential for prospects Archie Bradley, Braden Shipley, and Aaron Blair to push their way into the mix at some point in 2015, De La Rosa will have to pitch well in order to secure a spot regardless of whether he breaks camp as a member of the rotation, or has to wait for one of his counterparts to struggles. Thus far, the Diamondbacks haven't provided any indication that De La Rosa would shift to the bullpen if he fails to begin the year as a starter.

News: De La Rosa is currently penciled into the Diamondbacks' rotation for 2015, Fox Sports Arizona's Jack Magruder reports.
Impact: General manager Dave Stewart named De La Rosa, along with Josh Collmenter, Jeremy Hellickson and Allen Webster as four pitchers that would be assured of a spot in the rotation as things currently stand. A lot can change between now and the start of the 2015 season, but it would seem that De La Rosa will enter spring training as a strong favorite to be a part of Arizona's rotation. While De La Rosa's fastball works in the mid-90s, he wasn't much of a strikeout pitcher in 2014, notching just 74 strikeouts in 101.2 innings with Boston. His 4.03 xFIP points to the likelihood of De La Rosa pitching like a back-end starter in 2015.

News: De La Rosa was traded to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, along with Allen Webster and a minor league prospect, in exchange for Wade Miley, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
Impact: De La Rosa's performance over 18 starts with the Red Sox last season was uneven, but he will not turn 26 until March and averaged 94 MPH on his fastball last season, so he still has some upside. He figures to compete with a number of other pitchers this spring for a spot in the Diamondbacks' rotation.
