News: Petit (5-4) tossed seven innings Sunday, surrendering four runs (three earned) on eight hits while striking out eight in the loss to the Dodgers. Impact: Petit pitched relatively well Sunday, tossing a quality start against a tough Dodgers lineup. Unfortunately for his owners, he was facing off against Clayton Kershaw, who held the Giants' offense in check. Outside of a poor start at Coors Field, Petit has been excellent since joining the rotation, tossing quality starts in three of four starts and posting a sparkling 31:1 K:BB ratio over that span. His next start is a very favorable one against the Padres on Saturday.(RotoWire, )

News: Petit pitched a complete-game gem Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, allowing just one run on four hits and no walks, while striking out nine batters. He completed the game on just 84 pitches, with an astonishing 68 of them going for strikes. Impact: Although he got rocked his last start, allowing six runs on seven hits and one walk in four innings, that was on the road in Colorado. Otherwise, he has been pitching lights out of late, either in relief or now as a starter in Tim Lincecum's stead. He now owns a solid 3.62 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 110:18 K:BB in 99.1 innings this year. His next scheduled start is set for Sunday at home against the Dodgers.(RotoWire, )

News: Petit lasted just four innings Tuesday against the Rockies, allowing six runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five in the no-decision. Impact: After taking Tim Lincecum's spot in the rotation and looking good in his first two starts, Petit took a step back with Tuesday's sub-par outing. He now has 3.89 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 101:18 K:BB ratio in 90.1 innings this year (including eight starts). We'll see if the Giants stick with Petit, as he may make next Tuesday's start at home against the Diamondbacks, but it's undecided at this moment.(RotoWire, )

News: Petit has set a major league record by retiring 46 consecutive batters. Impact: Petit set down the first eight Colorado hitters he faced Thursday, setting the record by striking out Charlie Culberson and drawing a standing ovation at AT&T Park. That broke the mark held by Mark Buehrle with 45 in a row for the Chicago White Sox in 2009. (STATS, 4:44pm)
