News: Ventura got shelled Sunday, lasting just 4.1 innings against the Red Sox and giving up six earned runs on nine hits and four walks. He fell to 7-8 on the season and did not strike out a single batter. Impact: The last time Ventura failed to record a strikeout in a game in which he started was in 2009 for the Royals' Dominican Summer League team. His strikeout totals have certainly dipped since the first month of the season, but this was a new low. In April, Ventura posted a 25.4 percent strikeout rate, but he is striking out well below 20 percent of his batters in June and July. There was a case to be made that Ventura was a top-30 starting pitcher after the first month of the season, but he no longer demands to be rostered in standard leagues.(RotoWire, )

News: Ventura threw five innings and gave up four runs - all on a grand slam - while taking a no-decision in Wednesday's 5-4 win at Tampa Bay. Impact: Though Wednesday wasn't his best outing, Ventura has been solid this season with a 6-7 record and 3.28 ERA over his last 17 games.(STATS, 6:38pm)

News: Ventura came away with a no-decision Wednesday night against the Rays, allowing four earned runs on five hits and four walks, while striking out five over five innings. Impact: Ventura had been on the hook for the loss, but Salvador Perez changed that with a three-run go-ahead homer in the top of the ninth inning. The 23-year-old flamethrower wasn't the sharpest in this outing, as he matched a season high with four free passes. He was still able to hit triple digits on the gun on multiple occasions, but couldn't find the plate enough to be effective against Tampa Bay hitters. Ventura now owns a 3.28 ERA and 1.27 WHIP on the season, and won't make his next scheduled start until after the All-Star break.(RotoWire, )

News: Ventura pitched 8 1-3 stellar innings to help the Kansas City Royals beat the Cleveland Indians 7-1 on Friday night. Impact: Ventura (6-7, 3.07 ERA) blanked the Indians on four hits until Michael Brantley hit a leadoff homer in the ninth. The rookie right-hander was pulled after Jason Kipnis' one-out single. Ventura allowed six hits and struck out four in the longest outing of his career. He has yielded three runs in 21 innings in three career starts against Cleveland. (STATS, 1:30pm)
