News: Although the Indians indicated Gomes left Thursday's game on account of an illness, manager Terry Francona said the catcher would be monitored for a concussion, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports. Impact: Team sources are often reluctant to diagnose players with head injuries until proper testing his conducted, which probably explains Gomes' original classification. But for all intents and purposes, Gomes was removed from Thursday's contest after taking a deflected ball to the mask, an action that can typically result in head injuries for catchers. Gomes will be subjected to a few tests to determine if he did indeed suffer a concussion, and an update on his condition should be provided prior to Friday's game.(RotoWire, )
