News: Molina (oblique) is expected to be fully healthy by spring training. Impact: Molina was forced out of Game 2 of the NLCS with an oblique strain and didn't play again the rest of the postseason. With a full offseason to recover from the injury, it shouldn't be a problem for him by the time spring training rolls around.(RotoWire, )

News: Molina (oblique) remains out of the lineup Thursday against the Giants. Impact: Molina attempted to test his oblique injury Wednesday with some swings, but he "didn't feel too good," according to manager Mike Matheny. Thus, the Cardinals will have to go into Game 5 of the NLCS, down 3-1 in the series, without their All-Star catcher, though there's an outside chance he could be used as a defensive replacement late in the game. Tony Cruz gets the start behind the dish.(RotoWire, )

News: A.J. Pierzynski will start at catcher in place of the injured Molina for the St. Louis Cardinals in the third game of the NL Championship Series against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. Impact: Molina had started the past 83 postseason games for the Cardinals, since current manager Mike Matheny was behind the plate for Game 3 of the 2004 World Series against Boston. Molina strained his left oblique in St. Louis' win in Game 2 of the series and was replaced by Tony Cruz. Pierzynski is getting the nod despite not being on the division series roster.
