News: Wada got his first major league win Monday against the Rockies, tossing seven innings of one-run ball with a walk and six strikeouts. Impact: Wada, who pitched nine seasons in Japan, has experienced an up-and-down season since being called up by the Cubs on July 8. The 33-year-old threw five shutout innings in his big league debut, but was pounded for five runs in his second start. In his third outing Monday, Wada improved to 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB ratio over 16 innings. He'll take the hill Saturday versus the Dodgers.(RotoWire, )

News: Wada was called up Tuesday from Triple-A Iowa to start Wednesday's game, ESPN Chicago's Jesse Rogers reports. Impact: It's a pretty favorable matchup for Wada, who will face the Padres in Chicago for his second career big-league start. His one other start with the Cubs this season was a five-inning effort in which he gave up five hits and one unearned run while posting a 3:1 K:BB ratio. He's not a bad spot start option, especially in deeper leagues against a Padres team that just dealt Chase Headley.(RotoWire, )

News: Wada will be called up from Triple-A Iowa to start for the Cubs on Wednesday, the Chicago Tribune reports. Impact: Wada has made one appearance for the Cubs so far this season, going five shutout innings and striking out three on July 8. He could become a fixture in the Cubs' rotation moving forward with Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel dealt to the Athletics at the beginning of July. Through 113.2 innings with Iowa this season, Wada has posted a 2.77 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and 120:28 K:BB ratio. His strikeout rate has been somewhat erratic over the last couple seasons, but based on how he's pitched this season, Wada appears to be someone you could use for strikeouts in head-to-head leagues even if he struggles to maintain a decent ERA and WHIP.(RotoWire, )

News: Wada is in the mix to be the fifth starter for the Cubs the rest of the way, the team's official site reports. Impact: Wada is 33, so he's not exactly a prospect, but he's been very good for Triple-A Iowa this year, as he's in the top five in the PCL in strikeouts, ERA, and WHIP. Dan Straily, recently acquired from the A's, is also an option.(RotoWire, )
