News: Plouffe announced via his personal Twitter that he will not require surgery on his injured forearm. Impact: Instead, doctors will allow Plouffe to take the rest-and-recovery route with the forearm, with healing likely to take six-to-eight weeks. That timetable would allow Plouffe to begin his offseason training program in early November, putting him on track to enter spring training at full health.(RotoWire, )

News: Plouffe's season has ended a few days early, because of a broken left forearm. Impact: Plouffe was hurt in the sixth inning Wednesday against Arizona, when A.J. Pollock stole third base for the Diamondbacks. Plouffe's forearm banged against Pollock's knee during the attempted tag, and Plouffe instantly yelled in pain. After a brief visit with manager Ron Gardenhire and a team athletic trainer, he walked off the field holding the arm still. Eduardo Nunez replaced Plouffe, who batted a career-high .258 with a team-high 40 doubles, 14 home runs and 14 errors.(STATS, 4:43pm)
